The View, Uninterrupted

The best thing about a sliding patio door isn't the day you open it — it's every other day of the year. Because the panels glide rather than fold, they carry far bigger panes of glass and far less frame, so even on a grey February morning your garden is right there in the room with you. It's why patio doors have quietly become one of the most requested improvements we fit from our Martlesham base, in homes across Kesgrave, Ipswich, Woodbridge, Felixstowe and throughout Suffolk and Essex.

We install two aluminium sliding door systems, both manufactured in Britain by Arkay Windows: the EdgeGLIDE+, our standard system with impressively slim 35mm sightlines and a choice of 2- or 3-rail layouts, and the GLIDE21, our ultra-slim premium option whose outer frame disappears into the wall, leaving just 21mm of visible aluminium where the glass panels meet. Both are thermally engineered to keep your home warm, available in a huge range of colours, and fitted by our own installation team — never subcontractors.

Every installation starts with a free, no-obligation survey, is protected by our 10-year guarantee, and is FENSA-certified for building regulations compliance.

Choose Your System

Not sure which is right for your home? The simple version: EdgeGLIDE+ gives you slim, elegant frames at excellent value; GLIDE21 makes the frame virtually vanish and carries truly enormous panes of glass. Our consultants will walk you through both at your survey.

Our Standard System

Arkay EdgeGLIDE+

A beautifully engineered inline sliding door that suits almost any home — from modern extensions in Kesgrave to period cottages in Woodbridge. Slim frames, smooth colour-matched hardware, and it can even be manufactured at window height, which makes it a brilliant choice for opening up a kitchen.

Arkay GLIDE21

For homeowners who want the "glass wall" look. The GLIDE21's outer frame and sash are fully concealed within the surrounding structure, so when the doors are closed all you see is glass and a whisper-thin 21mm line where the panels meet. Each panel can reach a full 3 metres wide and 3 metres tall — genuinely floor-to-ceiling — and it glides on rollers tested to 25,000 open-and-close cycles.

Lead Times

Survey to Installation: 8–10 Weeks

Every patio door is manufactured to your exact opening, so from your free survey to installation day our current lead time is 8 to 10 weeks. Here's how it works: we survey and confirm final measurements, your doors go into production with Arkay, and we book your installation date — the fitting itself is usually completed within a single day, with our team leaving your home spotless. Bespoke RAL colours or structural alterations can occasionally extend this, and we'll always give you an honest timeline at quotation stage.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the EdgeGLIDE+ and GLIDE21 patio doors?
Both are premium aluminium sliding patio door systems manufactured in Britain by Arkay Windows. The EdgeGLIDE+ is our standard system, with a slim 35mm interlock, 2- or 3-rail configurations, and excellent value for most homes. The GLIDE21 is our ultra-slim premium option: its outer frame is fully concealed within the surrounding structure, leaving just a 21mm line of aluminium where the glass panels meet, and each panel can reach a full 3 metres wide and 3 metres tall. During your free survey we will help you choose the right system for your opening, budget, and the look you want.
Should I choose sliding patio doors or bifold doors?
It depends on how you plan to use them. Sliding patio doors give you much bigger panes of glass and slimmer frames, so your view of the garden stays uninterrupted all year round — and they never need swing space inside or outside the room. Bifold doors, on the other hand, can concertina fully back to open almost the entire aperture in summer. Most of our customers who prioritise the view choose sliding doors, and those who prioritise a completely open wall choose bifolds. We install both, so we can show you each option at your free survey with no bias either way.
How long does installation take from order?
Our current lead time from survey to installation is 8 to 10 weeks. Every patio door is manufactured to your exact opening size, so after your survey we confirm the final measurements, place the order with Arkay, and book your installation date. The installation itself is usually completed within one day.
Do I need planning permission to install patio doors in Suffolk?
In most cases, replacing existing doors or windows with sliding patio doors falls under Permitted Development and does not require planning permission. If you are significantly widening the structural opening, live in a listed building, or are in a designated conservation area, consent will likely be required. Our surveyor will advise you during your free consultation.
Are aluminium sliding patio doors secure?
Yes. Modern aluminium sliding doors are a world away from the rattly patio sliders of the 1980s. Both Arkay systems combine inherently strong aluminium profiles with multi-point locking and toughened safety glass, and the GLIDE21 panels can weigh up to 350kg each — they are simply not going anywhere. We will run through the locking and glazing specification for your chosen system at your survey.
What areas do you install patio doors in?
We are based in Martlesham and install across all surrounding areas including Kesgrave, Ipswich, Woodbridge, Felixstowe, Martlesham Heath, Rushmere St Andrew, and throughout Suffolk and Essex. If you are unsure whether we cover your area, call 01473 614 444.
Are your patio doors guaranteed?
Yes. Every installation comes with our comprehensive 10-year installation guarantee, and we are FENSA registered so your installation is certified as compliant with UK building regulations.
